Carrier Corp.'s CO2NSERVATION Meter Reaches 100 Million Metric Tons of Greenhouse Gases Saved |
|
Carrier Corp., the world’s leader in high technology heating, ventilation, air-conditioning and refrigeration (HVACR) solutions and a unit of United Technologies Corp., celebrates the collective environmental impact of its customers’ decisions to use Carrier’s high performance solutions, with its CO2NSERVATION Meter reaching the 100 million metric tons of greenhouse gases saved. This is the equivalent of removing more than 19 million cars off the road for one year or the electricity use of more than 12 million homes for one year.
The CO2NSERVATION Meter was introduced by Carrier in 2010 and calculates avoided greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions as a result of the installation of high efficiency Carrier air conditioning, heating and refrigeration systems by customers around the world since 2000. The CO2NSERVATION Meter illustrates the avoided GHG emissions associated with energy efficient products in use and emphasizes the impact of choosing more efficient products. TIAX LLC, an independent, third-party technology company operating laboratories, has validated the reductions displayed by the CO2NSERVATION Meter and provides an annual review. “From the very beginning, Carrier has been a natural leader. We recognize the responsible balance between the technology we provide today and the world we live in tomorrow,” said Geraud Darnis, president, Carrier Corp. “The CO2NSERVATION Meter demonstrates the collective power that energy efficient choices have on the environment.” Carrier works every day to continue to maximize the environmental performance of its products and services. More than 2,000 scientists, engineers and technicians at research and design centers worldwide work to apply the newest technological innovations to the practical needs of millions of customers. “Carrier designs for the environment, creating products that consume fewer resources and produce fewer emissions during manufacture and operation,” said John Mandyck, Carrier’s chief sustainability officer. “Reaching the 100 million metric tons mark on our CO2NSERVATION Meter is a significant milestone. We congratulate our customers for their energy efficient choices.”
